HOLLY ANN FRIESEN is a renowned contemporary painter based in Kenora, Ontario. After working in the agricultural sector as a scientific researcher and then as a market researcher, she turned her creative energy to the arts as a profession after moving to Northwestern Ontario. Holly has always found creativity and art in her careers, and sees art as a “continuation” of her experiences.

With a focus on sky, forest and water landscapes, Holly works with abstraction, creating images that are recognizable, but unique. She states: “As an artist, I am intrigued by the idea of challenging the audience to see more than the original object or inspiration – to overcome intuition and encourage people to think more deeply about what they are seeing or experiencing. By painting I hope to get people to see and experience the world more fully.”
